Landing Page Checklist For Your Lead Magnet (Copywriting Edition + Examples)

If you want to create an efficient landing page for your lead magnet, that means you want to collect people’s email to build your subscribers list and nurture them.

So your landing page should have only one goal: turn visitors into subscribers.

But make no mistake, the attention span has drastically lowered these days. That means you literally have seconds to convince a visitor to stay before they close the tab. In that brief time, while design might catch their eyes, it’s the copy that will keep them there and make them scroll past the title.

To make sure people stay on the page and subscribe, I’ll walk you through what you should check when creating your landing page.

But before we dive into that, let’s make sure we are on the same page about a few things and why this landing page is important.

Why Your Email List is Essential to Your Business

Unlike social media followers, your new email subscribers just gave you direct access to their space (aka their inboxes).

With a strong email list, you’ll not only not depend on your social media accounts anymore but you will be able to:

  • Build long-term relationships with potential clients

  • Create a safe space for them where you can get to know each other

  • Softly promote your new services, products or offers created just for them

  • Have a waitlist for your next launch or campaign even before you start announcing it anywhere else

Ok, now let’s see how to build a strong list, starting from a lead magnet and its landing page

Offer something valuable with your lead magnet

No landing page and no amount of copy will save a lead magnet that nobody wants or which isn’t useful.

So start by thinking about one (yes, just the one!) clear problem that your audience has and create a useful resource that solves just that.

Make the promised outcome specific and compelling, without overpromising. It’s important to stay true to what you create and what you can offer, otherwise you risk having unsubscribers that won’t ever come back.

Don’t start from a blank page

It’s a slippery slope when you start researching the “perfect” structure of your landing page. That can end with you spending hours deciding how the headline sounds best (it’s not about what sounds best by the way) and that’s not what you need.

Effective landing page copy is structured, intentional and clearly outcome-driven. So rather than starting from a blank page, rely on a proven persuasion copy framework to have a starting point.

For example, you can use AIDA framework (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action).

  • Attention: Add right away a clear, relevant headline

  • Interest: Build context, talk briefly about their problem without overcomplicating it

  • Desire: Show the outcome or the “after” state that people expects after using your lead magnet

  • Action: Ask them to sign up to get the lead magnet as the logical next step

If you want someone to handle this for you, I can create an effective landing page for you in 1 day.

Key elements to build a high-converting landing page structure for your lead magnet

1. Headline

This is the most important sentence that can make people say “naaah” or make them scroll further.

Focus on stating the main benefit or outcome that the lead magnet can have for your visitor. This reassures them they are in the right place and sets expectations.

Examples:

  • 5 simple ways to support your hormones without changing your entire routine

  • The PMOS-friendly meal planning guide for busy women who are tired of figuring out what to eat

2. Subheading

This supports the headline with a little bit more details. You can clarify who your lead magnet is for and why the person landing on your page might need it.

It makes people understand what’s in it for them, but also sparks their curiosity to scroll through the landing page and keep reading (and signing up).

Examples:

  • A practical guide for women with PMOS who want to build more balanced meals without restrictive diets or spending hours in the kitchen.

  • Learn how to create a simple morning routine that supports your nervous system in just 15 minutes a day.

3. Social Proof

Aka anything you have that will help people trust your expertise. In most cases, those are testimonials, showing that other people have already chosen your lead magnet and it does indeed what you promise.

If you don’t have that (yet), include some results, case studies, numbers, or relevant credentials you have to back up your authority as a women's health or wellness expert.

Examples:

  • Any testimonial or credential backing of what you just mentioned or

  • Trusted by 215 women to create simpler, more sustainable nutrition habits

4. Talk about benefits

Now this is the place where you can show people the value your lead magnet has.

Let them know about everything they can find inside and how each of those things has a reason to be there. Focus on what the reader will be able to do, feel, or achieve afterwards.

Examples:

  • Know what to eat when your energy crashes: learn how to build balanced meals that keep you fuller for longer without counting each calorie (that’s quite exhausting)

  • Feel more confident around food: get a simple framework for putting meals together, so you can spend less time wondering what you “should” eat and more time actually enjoying your food

5. Call to action (CTA)

You need to let people know what to do next. It might seem obvious to you, but using a clear, action-oriented call to action makes it obvious for anyone who visits the page too.

Examples:

  • Start the quiz

  • Get my PMOS Meal Planning Guide

6. Lead Capture Form

This is where you ask for their information so you can send them the resource or the results of the quiz.

Ask only for what you actually need, which is usually first name + email address.

Make the Page Convert

Now, I know… You might be tempted to add extra resources or outside links, but those are unnecessary distractions.

Keep the structure and copy focused on one goal: capturing the email. Use benefit-focused language specific to your audience – mirroring is a powerful tool.

Repeat the call to action throughout the page so that people have multiple opportunities to join. You can add a button after the headline and subheading, after stating the benefits and, always, at the end of the page.

Don't Forget About Design

While copy will keep people on the page, it’s important to not have a design that distracts people from it, but one that supports it. So make you have:

  • A clean, easy to scan layout (simplicity will never go out of style)

  • A headline and a CTA that are visually prominent

  • Visuals of the lead magnet or pictures to support the context (where possible)

Final Landing Page Copywriting Checklist for your Lead Magnet

So let’s recap what you need to have:

  • One clear problem

  • One compelling promise

  • A useful lead magnet

  • Benefit or outcome-driven headline

  • Clear subheading

  • Relevant (social) proof

  • List of benefits of outcome

  • Strong CTA

  • Simple lead capture form

What Happens After People Opt-In?

A landing page is only one part of the picture. To create a more intentional strategy around it (and maybe turn it into a funnel), consider:

  • Adding a short thank-you page/message for after people signed in

  • Personalising the delivery email, rather than just sending the resource with “this is yours, bye”

  • A welcome email sequence to properly welcome and nurture people who trusted you with their inboxes

  • Adding a relevant offer that compliments the lead magnet you’ve just sent
